What is a Summer camp? Dallas

T
he summer months are a great time for children to further enjoy and expand upon the concepts that they learn during the regular school year. Participating in the summer program offered by the Brilliance Preschool & Academy is advisable as review sections during the early period of the regular school year can be much more valuable if they are not solely used as a reminder of the concepts that were taught the previous school year. However, the activities used during the summer are fun and exciting for the children and may not feel like school even though vast amounts of learning are likely to take place. If you are looking for a safe and fun environment in which to involve your child, consider taking part in the three month summer program offered by Camp Brilliance.

The summer program offered by the academy revolves around the summer camp called Camp Brilliance. At this camp (which runs from June 1st to August 14th), students are given the opportunity to strengthen friendships that they made with their peers during the regular school year as well as meet new children with whom they can interact. All children are welcome to attend Camp Brilliance. Enrollment in the regular school year program is not a prerequisite for attending the summer program. However, students that attend the regular school year would be well suited to attend the summer program as well because the learning techniques employed are almost identical.

One of the most exciting aspects of the summer camp is the employment of weekly themes that the children enjoy. Some examples of the weekly themes include:

Wild, Wild West:
Students explore what it is like to be a cowboy/cowgirl and enjoy S’mores
    and campfires.
My Family and Me:
Children discover their family roots and learn how to interact positively
    with their siblings and parents.
The Rainforest:
Children learn about the various animals that inhabit the rainforest.
Crafts from Nature/Recyclable Art:

Students learn how to create art from materials provided in nature and
    recycled products.
A Trip to the Ocean:
Students explore ocean wildlife and enjoy the water.
5 Senses:
Children learn how to use their 5 senses to explore their world safely.
When Dinosaurs Lived:
Children learn about the enormous scale of dinosaur sizes and discover
   when and where they lived.

In addition to the weekly themes, children are given the opportunity to enjoy special events every Friday that tie into the theme of each week. These events are excellent opportunities to accent each theme in a positive and creative way. Some examples of special Friday events include:

● Favorite Sports Player/Team Day
● Bandana/Brilliant Scarf Day
● Class/School Picnic
● Face Paint Day
● Crazy Hat Day
● Crazy Hair Day
● Pajama Day
● Red, White and Blue Day

Just as in the regular school year, concepts involving reading, science and mathematics are taught on an individualized basis for each student so that they continue their learning process throughout the year. As they develop throughout the summer, children find that they are afforded new opportunities for positive interaction and learning than before. This progressive approach to education allows for even greater confidence and intellectual development as children progress and experience new things. While these new opportunities can be challenging, most children welcome the opportunity to have new and exciting responsibilities to enhance their mental growth.

All summer programs are designed by the teachers and parents and you can be assured that a wide variety of activities and field trips will be employed to keep the interest of the child and continue intellectual development. Each faculty member is enthusiastic about the activities included in the program and they are well prepared and suited to perform each activity in a controlled, safe and fun manner. Whatever the children do and wherever they go, you can be assured of their safety and positive educational development throughout the program.
